Clean a smooth spot on a tile floor, table top or glass.
Press the suction cup down firmly and lock the handle.

Will it stick to carpet or wood?

No. The cup has no backing pad, so it needs a clean, smooth surface like tile or a table top.

Is it strong enough for a big cat?

The plastic pole can break under very rough play. It suits most cats who bat and jump rather than hang on it.
