The short answer
Follow the perch manufacturer's installation instructions and weight limit for the exact model, check that the mounting surface is compatible, and test the empty installation before your cat uses it. Keep the window secure and provide an easy route on and off. Inspect mounting points frequently; a stated capacity does not guarantee correct installation.
Check the window before choosing the perch
Identify the glass or frame surface the product is intended to attach to. Some mounts require smooth suitable glass, while other designs use a sill or bracket. Do not assume suction cups work on textured, damaged or coated surfaces. Check the product instructions and any restrictions from the window manufacturer or property owner.
Measure the available width and height with curtains or blinds in their everyday position. Include room for the cat's body and an approach route. A perch that fits the glass may still interfere with a handle, blind cord or the way the window closes.
Compare usable size with the individual cat
The overall frame width is not the same as the fabric's usable resting area. Consider whether your cat sleeps curled up or stretched out. Our pet-bed measuring guide explains how to translate that habit into dimensions without guessing from breed.
Boopmo's Cat Window Hammock should be assessed against its actual instructions and size. If more than one cat might get on it, consider the combined use and the stated restrictions. Do not increase a weight limit because the frame looks sturdy in a photograph.
Install only as the instructions direct
Clean and prepare the specified mounting surface, attach all parts in the correct order and allow any required settling or adhesion time. Check that fixings are fully engaged. Test the empty installation by the method in the instructions, rather than inventing a load test that could damage the window.
If a cup, bracket or connector does not hold reliably, stop and resolve the issue before introducing the cat. Do not compensate with a dangling improvised cord or unrelated adhesive. Incorrect mounting can undermine a perfectly suitable perch.
Keep the window and access route safe
A window perch does not make an open window safe. Secure the window and any necessary protective screen or barrier independently. Cats Protection warns about tilt-and-turn window hazards, so do not leave a gap that can trap a cat merely because the perch sits below it.
Provide an easy approach suited to your cat's abilities and a clear landing area. Avoid positioning the perch above sharp furniture or loose household objects. Let the cat discover it without lifting them onto an untested or unfamiliar setup.
Inspect it as part of the room routine
Check mounting points before access and repeat the full inspection as the instructions require. Temperature changes, cleaning and movement can affect the setup. Inspect fabric, stitching and connectors as well as the glass attachment. Remove the perch from use if anything loosens or becomes damaged.
Keep another comfortable resting place available, such as an open bed. Our cave versus open-bed guide can help with alternatives. A window view is one resting choice, not a requirement for every cat or a reason to accept an unreliable mount.
