About this product

The sparrow that chirps back, and the wide eyes when it first flaps. This flapping bird cat toy is a soft plush sparrow: tap it and the wings beat and it chirps, then it goes still and waits for the next pounce.

Why it works

  • Something that fights back a little. Wings and chirp start on touch, so the toy reacts to the paw instead of lying there.
  • Short bursts, like real prey. It rests in standby after the switch is on and only moves when tapped, so play comes in quick rounds.
  • No batteries to buy. It charges by USB and cuts the power itself when full.

At home with it

Charge it, switch it on and tap its back while your cat watches from the rug. Picture the crouch, the wiggle of the hips, the swat, then a startled hop backward when the wings whir and it chirps. You laugh out loud, they creep back for round two, and when play is done it goes off and up on a shelf.

Why this one

A plain plush mouse gets batted twice and then ignored under the sofa. This bird moves and makes a sound only when touched, which gives your cat a reason to come back. The hanging rope also lets you clip it to a teaser wand.

Supervise play. It contains electronics and a charging cable, so put it away after the game, especially with cats who chew. Rope and charger color are random.

Questions

Will my cat play with it? No toy comes with a promise. Movement on touch gives curious cats a reason to try, so show it to them switched on.

How do I start it? Turn on the switch, then tap the bird's back.

Is it loud? It chirps and the wings make a soft flutter while moving, then goes quiet in standby.
